I always love Aliki's "Saturday Pursuits" posts. For once, my family did some interesting things on a Saturday!
The igloo was started last weekend, but finished today. (Just in time for pouring rain and 40 degree temps predicted for tomorrow! Ack! They covered it with a tarp to protect it from the rain. We'll see if it survives...)
The "fancy" planes are Alexander's. The colorful planes in a stack are Brianna's.
New mercies I see

Have you heard the saying that the secret to a long, happy marriage is
falling in love over and over again, each time with the same person? I
believe this ...

Awesome igloo!!!! Good idea covering it with the tarp--let's hope it survives the warmer temps too. I'll have my fingers crossed! LOL at the paper airplanes. Resembles our house ;-) That and origami. So many little pieces of folded colored paper.
I love the igloo!!! What a great idea! Looks like you guys had a great Saturday!!
That is the BEST igloo. I hope it survives! I love, love Alexander's planes, spread out and fancy ;) and Brianna's stacked neatly. Very telling? LOL.
We might have had sunny weather, but my kids--L. especially--would have LOVED building an igloo!
It's amazing!
Woo-hoo!! We are impressed by your hard work and creativity, Kids (big kids, included)! I hope the igloo lasts until we can get over to see it. And the airplanes make me long for warm soft breezes on which to fly them.
Love you,
G and G
Now that's a great igloo!! My Boy would love that!
Wow, that igloo looks HUGE!! I do hope it survives a little longer!! We had great packing snow last week, could have been a good igloo, but now we just have MUD! Bleck!!
I just love the weekend pics that people post, so fun to look at.
Love the planes!! My kids would love that project!
another award for you on my site
Looks like Firmin could fit into that igloo! But the doorway looks like a pretty tight squeeze. Very cool. Your igloo definitely makes me jealous...LOL! Although today's weather was in the 60s... Jealousy fading...
Well, I always thought that living with snow isn't so bad if you just have fun with it. Tell the kids "well done!"
Thanks everyone. Yes, Firmin did fit into it, and it *was* a tight squeeze, lol! Sadly, the igloo did not survive. We had several days of warm-ish days and some rain, so it now looks like an ancient ruin. The kids weren't too disappointed. I think they enjoyed the building process the most, and didn't care all that much about actually playing in it.
As is so often the case in life, we focus on the destination, when it is the journey that is the most enjoyable. We adults have to remember that. Kids have so much fun in the doing and the process, while we adults waste precious time and energy being disappointed with a less than perfect result. Celebrate the journey with your children as you go!!
Love, Mom
